Tom wins Ansel Adams Award for Conservation Photography

We are pleased to announce, Tom has received the 2018 Ansel Adams Award for Conservation Photography. This award, given by the Sierra Club, honors an individual who has made a superlative use of photography to further a conservation cause. Tom has dedicated over 40 years capturing Earth’s last great wild places and has become legendary for producing a body of work that includes truly awe-inspiring landscapes and some of the most recognizable wildlife scenes ever photographed.

Limited Edition titled Rush of Autumn

Lined by one of the largest deciduous old growth forests in North America and surging with a recent downpour, the Little Pigeon River sweeps and cascades over its rock-filled channel. The freshly fallen rain heightens the kaleidoscope of green, yellow, orange and red that dapples the landscape. The summer’s end brings a decline of green pigment to the leaves exposing the carotenoid—yellow and orange pigment—that turns the foliage golden. The autumn sunlight in turn breaks down sugars in the leaves forming the anthocyanins—the pigment that brings reds and purples to the forest. Such a vibrant autumn scene naturally reveals why the Great Smoky Mountains is the most visited national park in the United States.
