If we lose the rhinoceros, we lose pieces of our own humanity. Together we CAN save the rhino.

“I created our Saving the Wild Collection because I want to make a tangible difference in the race against extinction, and present our art collectors with an opportunity to do the same. Rhinos have existed for fifty million years, and can survive almost anything but a bullet. If we lose the rhinoceros, we lose pieces of our own humanity. Together we CAN save the rhino.”
-Thomas D. Mangelsen

World Rhino Day is September 22nd, and in a decade-long losing battle, there is finally a crusade against corruption, the number one enabling factor of wildlife trafficking. With the united support of ‘art as a force for good’, the South Africa based environmental organization ‘Saving the Wild’ is achieving the impossible:

• Saving the Wild has systematically dismantled the ‘Gwala Syndicate’ headed up by Zululand’s accused rhino horn dealer Dumisani Gwala.

• Saving the Wild played a critical role in the June 2018 Hawks Police sting operation that led to the arrest of the alleged kingpin of Kruger, Petrus Mabuza AKA “Mr Big”.

• Saving the Wild exposed the ‘Blood Rhino Blacklist’, an alleged syndicate of magistrates and lawyers who have for years been taking bribes on rhino poaching cases. Last month the Regional Court President was charged by the Magistrates Commission, with criminal charges expected to follow for all crooked justice officials.
